The Three Amigos
Ride into Town
June 28, 2022
While the Three Amigos were in town they caught up with the ol’ school wrestler, Kevin Chapman to get updated on questions previously posed to him and receive some current updates.
Too much of our surprise, many meetings and discussions had taken place since we last met between the curriculum dept, staff, and superintendent. Yes, there are a lot of new laws and woke agendas trying to seep in through the cracks that are creating extra workloads and internal stress, but for items to reach the top for approval to the board that has not been thoroughly vetted is not acceptable! Newsela being pulled the day before a $200,000 stamp of approval is not a good thing and shows breaks in the level of responsible parties letting the underlings do all the work and no real inspection being done at the top. This was a clear admittance from Mr. Chapman which has prompted the internal audit not only of the curriculum but also of the staff.
Here are a few changes that have occurred or are occurring:
- All of the online courses that we found issues with are going to pulled and gone through with a fine-tooth comb. All other areas of concern are being looked at along with our help and guidance.
- A new webpage is being built to house and have access to all curriculum in one place. It is very confusing and even Mr. Chapman is confused and wanted things simplified.
- Mental and Emotional Health, aka original SEL, has been simplified and they are just going with the bare state guidelines…no extra fluff and we are verifying that! So far it looks good and is getting a thumbs up.
- There will not be any changes to bathrooms in order to make them gender friendly, as the Federal Government is proposing. As of now, there is not a bill demanding this. If and when one might arrive they will look for leadership from DeSantis…..and we all know how that will end!
- We also found a Civics Bill that the Feds are working on to permanently get CRT into the classrooms. Again, it is not approved as of now but we have put them on alert knowing it’s hanging out there in the wind and we are watching!
- Mr. Chapman said his goal is to have the “Inappropriate Books and (SEL Indoctrinating) Curriculum” 100% removed by the end of August!
What great Wins for the Children!!
After dealing with the Ol’ School House Wrestler, is was time to head over and pay the Sheriffs a visit.
The two Amigas, Deanna & Kim, put on their boots, spurs and sashayed up to the Sheriffs with their six shooters by their side.
What will be the result of the duel between the Amigas and the Sheriffs? Who will be the last Cowboy standing? Will there be a shootout?
The first Amiga, thanked the local Sheriffs for doing the right thing, and saving the little muchacho’s from the dark cloud looming overhead.
The Second Amiga, described the dust cloud she saw on the horizon headed for town. If it reaches the Alamo the carnage will be the blood stain left on their hands…
The head Sheriff, Saunders with her hands held high remarked:
- They are thankful for the Amigas expressing their concerns and working with the staff.
- Mr. Chapman and Dr. Breslin are going through the curriculum.
- The best approach is to bring it to their attention.
- Let’s go through it together with a fine tooth comb.
- Let’s make sure the parents and teachers are comfortable
- That we are adhering to the curriculum that we are required to teach along with adhering to the laws.
- This is a new approach to a deeper dive than we have had to do in the past.
- We are working diligently and partnering with the parents and the community to ensure all parties feel comfortable.
